A Math Bakery at Franklin, where 4th graders in Beth Billing's class recently donned a baker's hat and apron for a creative lesson on how to multiply whole numbers by fractions/mixed numbers.
"Because fractions are often used in baking, this activity was an engaging way for my students to apply these skills in a real-world scenario," says Ms. Billing. "They rotated between different stations with varying levels of difficulty - from basic computation to more complex problem-solving. They worked with their groups to understand and solve the problems at each station."
