Health Screenings

The NJ State Department of Education has more clearly delineated screenings for all students in K-12. School Nurses will conduct screenings with the help of other trained personnel when appropriate. Visual acuity must be checked every two years for students in grades K-10. Auditory screenings must be done annually for students in K-3 and in grades 7 and 11. Height, weight and blood pressure screenings will also be conducted annually for all pupils K-12. The American Academy of Pediatrics encourages blood pressure checks for children over the age of 3. Screening for scoliosis shall be conducted biennially for students between the ages of 10-18. As always, referrals are sent to parents for any readings that need further evaluation by your private physician. Please call if you have any questions.
